Used Motor Oil Collection
Used motor oil, oil filters and empty motor oil bottles are frequently disposed improperly. One gallon of used motor oil poured on the ground or in a sewer system can contaminate as much as 1 million gallons of USED MOTOR OIL MUST BERECYCLED IN SOUTH CAROLINA!

Use SpecialYellow Bags ForHousehold Garbage...First, recycle. Then use yellow Darlington County bags for garbage. The "Trash Two-Step" means you pay only for the garbage you throw away. Darlington County developed this pay-per-bag system to meet state and federal goals to reduce solid waste and increase recycling.The price of Darlington County trash bags covers a portion of the disposal costs, including handling, transportation and disposal of the trash at a landfill that meets the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Subtitle 0 regulations.

APPLIANCES AND FURNITURE: Recycling Stations accept metal appliances that can be handled by two people, mattresses and box springs, furniture, scrap metal and wood. GLASS BOTTLES AND JARS: Green, brown and clear food and beverage containers are the only types of glass accepted. Dishes, drinking glasses, pyrex, ceramic, window glass, mirrors and light bulbs ARE NOT accepted. MAGAZINES AND NEWSPAPERS: Newspapers, inserts and magazines with glossy pages are accepted. Items including books, writing or office paper, unwanted mail and wrapping paper ARE NOT accepted. |
PLASTIC BOTTLES: Soft drink bottles, milk jugs and most lastic bottles marked by a #1 or #2 recycling symbol are accepted. Plastic bags and styrofoam ARE NOT accepted OIL FILTERS AND BOTTLES: No more than 10 gallons of Used motor oil will be accepted per visit. Do not remove caps on bottles. Drain oil filters completely (puncture oil filters to rain completely). Antifreeze, gasoline, paint thinner and olvents ARE NOT accepted. 'EXTILES: Clothing, shoes, belts, purses, hats, towels, household linens, blankets and clean stuffed animals are (ollected for reuse. |
